Sydney plans to attend the University of Montana to study Special Education.
Her favorite memory of tennis season was the east versus west tournament from 2019 because that’s where all the girls doubles teams really bonded and it created a great team atmosphere
I want to thank Mara for being my doubles partner, I don’t know how you put up with me but it was so much fun playing with you and I will miss it so much! I would also like to thank all my tennis coaches that have help me over the past five years -Swenson, Ray, Tom, and Kevin. I would not be the tennis player I am without you guys and I appreciate everything you’ve done.
I would like to thank my mom and dad for always supporting me playing tennis, you guys are my number one fans and I will miss seeing you guys cheering me on.
I would also like to say thank you to all of the bruins tennis team, you guys have been such a warm welcoming family and I hope you guys kick butt next season!
From Coach Swenson: Sydney has always pushed herself and her teammates to be the best they can be. Sydney is an excellent leader and ambassador for Bruin Tennis both on and off the court. Sydney always leads by example, setting the tone at practice, matches, and on the bus. Off the court, Sydney has been very involved with Special Olympics and has been a unified partner for the CHS Special Olympics team for several years as well as being a leader in our Unified PE class for students with special needs. Her passion for people and her willingness to help and lead have made Sydney an excellent teammate, and will help her become an incredible special education teacher. You will be greatly missed Sydney, and we wish you the best! Congratulations!!
Mady DeFilippis
Next year I am going to the University of Montana Western in Dillon to study Psychology.
I seriously cannot remember a single practice where Regan didn’t push the back of my knees in, causing me to fall to the ground and looking back up to see Swenson laughing at me. But then again, the fried chicken that the Hansons bring to the banquets is a favorite memory as well. P.S- Huge shout-out to Swenson for always letting me know when my sock is untied.
To my teammates: I am extremely grateful for the friendships I have made over the past several years. You guys have pushed me to not only become a better player, but a better person, a better friend, and most importantly - a better role model. I would not be where I am at today without you guys.
I want to thank my dad, step-mom, step-dad and mom for never leaving my side. For being there for me when I thought I had no one. for pushing me to be who I am. I’ve learned many life lessons throughout my life, but the main one is that family is forever. I’m so lucky to have you guys, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive and loving mixed family.
I want to thank my coaches. Especially our head coach Ryan Swenson. From the get-go, you have always made me feel like a part of the team. You invited me in with open arms and taught me many things outside of tennis. Such as leadership, teamwork, and not to mention you have also helped me define words such as “souvenir”. I also want to thank the parents of the players. You guys have always cheered us on and made us feel worthy, even if we never win. The last 3 years playing tennis for the Bruins have been the most influential and inspiring years of my life. I’ve put blood, sweat, and tears into these past years, and I can’t wait to take these life lessons and use them in the future. My senior season has been cut short, and although I am disappointed and feel robbed, I will never forget my memories that I’ve made with all of you. GO BRU!!
From Coach Swenson: Mady's infectious attitude has been a big part of this team for the last 4 years. She always strives to have fun, and she helps her teammates to do the same. She has been a great teammate and friend to her peers, and her constantly positive attitude has helped improve morale many times. We will miss her friendly demeanor, her frustrated groans every time Swenson told her something that wasn't true (e.g. "tomorrow's practice will be a run from CHS to the top of mount helena, so bring a water bottle!"), and the joy she brought to every practice, bus trip, or match. Thank you for everything you've given to this team over the years Mady, we are going to miss you! We wish you the best at Western, and Congratulations!
Emma Coble
I will attend the University of Kansas to study Mechanical Engineering --aspiring to be an Imagineer at Disney.
My favorite tennis memory is, ironically, staying at the Super 8 in Missoula last year.
To my teammates: Thank you for making my high school tennis experience super fun and really memorable.
Thank you to my family for supporting me whole-heartedly throughout my entire life.
Thank you Swenson for encouraging me to be better and always reminding me to stay positive, even when seeing the good is hard.
From Coach Swenson: Over the past 4 years, Emma has proven herself to be one of the most dedicated players Bruin Tennis has ever seen. She has a strong drive to do well, and to put in the necessary work to improve every day. Emma is a strong leader for the team, and has been a role model for her teammates on and off the court. Emma is a gifted thespian and has been involved in several productions at CHS over the past 4 years. Emma's friendliness, her passion for tennis, and her leadership on the team will be greatly missed. Emma has had a large part in shaping the culture of Bruin Tennis into what it is today. Congratulations Emma!
Kadyn Culp
I am going to Montana State University to major in Psychology and go into the Pre-Medical intake program.
My favorite memory of tennis is the first open gym I went to. Even though I was new to tennis I was welcomed with open arms and never judged for my playing skills. I was only helped to become better and at that moment I felt like I was part of the team.
To all my teammates thank you for encouraging me on not only my good days but on my bad days too. I always will remember everything that you have done for me.
As to my family thank you for standing behind me and telling me I can do it all the way through.
Thank you to Coach Swenson for dedicating so much time to this team and sport. Thank you to Coach Bieber for videoing me and showing me how I could improve. And to all the other seniors we made it through. We may not have gotten to play our senior tennis season, but together we made it to the end - even through all the bumps in the road.
From Coach Swenson: Since the day he started playing, Kadyn has brought a positivity to the Bruin tennis team that has been infectious. Kadyn loves to play and is excited to work on getting better at every open gym, every practice, and every match. He has been an excellent friend and teammate, and always brought a bright light to anything we did as a team. Kadyn has improved tremendously since he started playing, and has shared his love of the sport with others, causing more people to want to joint the team as well. Kadyn, we will miss your positivity, your friendly attitude, and your desire to improve while having fun. Best of luck at MSU, and Congratulations Kadyn!
